IRIS group successfully attended the Innovation Village held in Brussels from 4th to 7th of April, presenting a demo of a new Quantum Random Number generator based on a CMOS SPAD detector array, developed within the local project Siquro.

SuperTwin, a H2020 Future Emerging Technology project, has been recently launched with FBK-IRIS unit as coordinator.

The project aims at developing a microscope based on quantum effects of photon entanglement in order to overcome the limits of classical implementations.

This year, at the leading integrated circuit conference ISSCC in San Francisco, California (1-4 February 2016), IRIS research unit will be there with two papers:

ISSCC official website recently published the videos which have been recorded during the demo session at ISSCC 2015:

IRIS research unit was there with a fluorescence lifetime imaging prototype linked to the paper presented in session 11:

"A 160×120-Pixel Analog-Counting Single-Photon Imager With Sub-ns Time-Gating and Self-Referenced Column-Parallel A/D Conversion for Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging"

The University Trento and IRIS won the price for best poster at the "Bioimaging: From Multiphoton Excitation Microscopy to Optical Nanoscopy and Biophotonics" conference  held in Genoa on Oct. 14-15 with the poster "Towards comparative functional brain imaging via fast two-photon FLIM"! Hurray!!!

Two letter papers have recently been published by the IRIS group.

A paper on a very small and efficient TDC, suitable for arrayed applications, has been published in Electronics Letters:

SUPERTWIN is a project funded by the European Union within the Excellent Science - Future and Emerging Technologies section of the FETOPEN-2014-2015-RIA Horizon 2020 (H2020) Framework Programme, a programme that supports the early-stages of the science and technology research and innovation around new ideas towards radically new future technologies. SUPERTWIN will develop the new generation of optical microscope systems, exploiting the properties of entangled photons to acquire images at a resolution beyond the classical Rayleigh limit of about half the photon wavelength.
